travel

The weekend's festivities will be taking place in and around the Laurel Highlands, in Somerset County.

It is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away from the Pittsburgh International Airport, and about 1 hour and 30 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh.

Lodging & Transportation

As mentioned on our FAQ page, Uber and public transportation are practically non-existent in the area, so we highly suggest you stay at the Slopeside Hotel or on Seven Springs Mountain Resort property if you'd like to take advantage of the shuttle bus service for our reception. The shuttle buses will pick up and drop off guests at the lobby of the resort.

To make a reservation at the Slopeside Hotel, please call their reservation line at (855) 947-0438. When you do so, please refer to the group code S7SCOH25 or the group name Brandt-Cohen Wedding Lodging. Doing so will procure you a 10% discount on room rates!

If you are traveling with a group and would prefer to stay in a house or condo, there are several properties within Seven Springs and Hidden Valley (the other ski resort in town) available for rental on Air Bnb or VRBO. If you would like to go this route and would like any advice on finding a place, please feel free to email Amanda. She'd be happy to help.

Attractions

Ohiopyle State Park - Ohiopyle about a 10 minutes drive from The Barn at Fallingwater, and about 30 minutes way from Seven Springs. It’s a great place to hike, bike, kayak, or white water raft.

Ligonier Country Market - One of the largest farmer’s markets in the area, a great way to spend a Saturday morning. You can grab breakfast at one of the various food trucks, and then drive two minutes up the Main Street and have a stroll through the town’s square, which gives Stars Hollow vibes.

Open on Saturday from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Seven Springs Mountain Resort - This is the area’s largest ski resort, and during the summer they have a whole slew of available activities ranging from the local-right-of-passage alpine slide to golf, sporting clays, and more. We politely suggest that you not show up to the wedding covered in road rash from an alpine slide mishap, or that if turns out to be unavoidable, we politely request that you share footage.

Fallingwater & Polymath Park - If you’re a fan of architecture, you might be interested to know that the area is home to several Frank Lloyd Wright houses. Each location offers tours, although reservations are required.

The International Conservation Center - Located on nearly 1,000 acres of rolling hills in Somerset, PA, the ICC is an extension of the Pittsburgh Zoo that provides the perfect landscape to focus on conservation science, wildlife management and recovery, and education. The animals that live here contribute to the preservation of their wild counterparts and help tell the story of hope and survival into the future. The ICC offers tours and encounters with elephants every Saturday. Reservations are required.
